Description of service
Above is the price I paid for a day tour out on a glacier cruise going out of Whittier, Alaska and cruising the day through Prince William Sound. The total cost with taxes and gratuities came to $150 per person with $129 as the base price.
Review of Service
The price at first seemed quite high to me, but after the experience I felt that my experience was worth the price I paid. The experience of spending a majority of the day out on the water in a large, comfortable ship where I did not get seasick was a great surprise. But where the real value came in was in the incredible sights that we were only able to see via ship. Getting up close and personal with the glaciers as well as much of the wildlife in the ocean was truly amazing. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area we were touring making it a lot more fun. The food service was decent, but adequate. Overall, it was a great value.
Tips
I was able to travel on this day trip during the off peak time which made it much more enjoyable. The ship we were on usually holds about 350 people but there were only about 60 people on our ship. Because of this we were able to move around the ship freely to get the best view of the glaciers and wildlife in the water. So if you can manage to go in the off-season for this day glacier cruise that would be best.
