Description of service
Arrived about midnight and was released at 3:25am. The charge was $1500 for the three hours and I was charged for: sitting in the waiting room to be placed in a room for over two hours; moved to an examination room; examination room for over 30 minutes; doctor looked at hand, cut, and decided stitches were needed; doctor ordered supplies required for stitches; nurse gave novacain- type shot to deaden area around cut; waited 20 minutes for doctor to come back to exam room; doctor put in stitches (10), then released patient.
Review of Service
Quality of service in waiting room -- lousy. Service in waiting room was rude, crude; other "emergency" patients included headache victims; stomach aches; general confusion and disorientation. There were over 18 patients in the room, with others in hallways -- all waiting for some type of attention. Only two people had cuts and abrasions, both had bloody towels wrapped around injured areas, yet these people were not put ahead of others.
Tips
Tips and general information regarding Emergency Rooms: First, don't go unless the problem is genuinely an emergency, possibly death related. Emergency rooms are extremely expensive; excessively slow; and it can be frightening to be in a small area with so many people who are sick with runny noses, coughing, runny eyes; few people were actually near death, or injured (drawing blood). Only use the Emergency facilities when absolutely necessary. It not only helps those who are really sick or injured, but it would also help reduce the costs of the ER.
