Description of service
We had to make an emergency room visit while on vacation during spring break when our 6 year olds superman attempt was a little short on the landing. We arrived at the emergency room about 9pm. we were lucky enough to have a hospital within 5 miles of our vacation house. We were xrayed, casted and given medication and directions before being released.
Review of Service
We arrived at the emergency room about 9pm with our 6 year old complaining that his wrist hurt. After signing in we waited in the lobby for about 1/2 hour before being called to triage where they took his temp, and ask what happened and where it hurt. After this we returned to the lobby waiting area where we waited about another 45 minutes before being called back to a room. Once placed in the back we waited another 30 minutes before the doctor arrived to say that they were going to do Xrays and felt his arm. He left and we waited. After about 45 minutes a nice gentlemen arrived with a machine to do the pictures right in our room which was great given the fact that our 6 year old at this point had waken up and was crying again. They took three Xrays of his arm and after about 30 more minutes the doctor came back in to tell us it was broken and that they were going to put him in a splint and give him medicine for pain. Once they wrapped him up we were on our way and back at our vacaion house by 2am.
Tips
Have insurance cards, id, and any other documents you may need ready and available to speed things up. If like our case you suspect a broken bone.....put ice on it. We were glad we did that when it happened, but at the same time the as the triage nurse and doctor both pointed out" no swelling" and "no sign of trauma" (had us categorized lower)
