Description of service
Microdermabrasion is the process of removing dead skin cells and minor scar tissue from the facial area using either a jet of abrasive crystals, or a wand impregnated with similar crystals. I got microdermabrasion on my face.
Review of Service
My partner gifted me a certificate for $200 at a local spa for my birthday, and I decided to use it as a de-stresser during the hectic holiday season. What a great idea it was! When I arrived at the spa I looked at a menu of services, and opted for the Microdermabrasion, and a body mask. My facial skin was looking a little sallow, and I had several dark areas due to teenage acne, which the microdermabrasion is supposed to help alleviate. Boy did it ever work. The process is relatively painless, and the esthetician was really nice, she explained the process and made sure I had no reservations about the procedure before beginning. The only part that was uncomfortable was the first 30 or so seconds, and also along my chin and jaw line, because of the bone being so close to the surface. I was treated to soothing music to listen to, and the esthetician made periodic checks to make sure I was still comfortable. My skin was glowing and beautiful at the end of the treatment, and the dark spots were much fainter. Overall I was quite pleased with my experience, and have returned on several occasions.
Tips
Make sure you visit a reputable location, and that everything is up to date and sanitary. I would also check around on prices. If the spa runs many coupons they might not be that great, and are trying to drum up business.
Plan on taking a few hours out of your day the first few treatments, so it is like a special treat. We all deserve that!!
