the Price of an Exam for Birth Control

I paid for a new patient visit at a women's health center. This included a consultation and examination and prescription for birth control. Usually a visit like this includes a pap smear but I declines so the cost does not include that service, it would have been additional.

The service was excellent. The office was very nice, beautifully decorated, calm and relaxing. The mood was very low key. No scrubs anywhere, the support staff had nice business casual clothes on. The doctor was the only one in a lab coat. The staff helped me with paperwork and insurance cards. I was scheduled for an hour appointment and that is what it took, the first half hour was paperwork and waiting, but I did not mind because they had told me when I made the appointment to expect a wait. The Doctor was professional, knowledgeable and very nice. I felt at ease as soon as I started talking with her. She listened to what I said. She spent enough time with me so I felt like I had seen the doctor.

Ask your friends who they go to, a referral is always a big plus when you are seeking a doctors care. Call and ask the charges ahead of time, they can give you a "ballpark" figure. When it comes to doctors, the lowest cost is not always the best choice. What kind of neighborhood is the office in? Do they accept your insurance? To they accept cash patients? Don't hesitate to walk out the door if when you arrive at a new doctors office, you find you are uncomfortable.
