Description of service
I went to a local clinic to get a prescription and to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, and to take a pregnancy test. I also received a full gynecological exam and pap smear. The clinic has a sliding-fee scale, so patients basically pay only what they can afford. While you are at an appointment there, you can pick up information on almost any sex or relationship topic, receive free condoms, and ask any questions that you may have.
Review of Service
I was very satisfied with the service I received. All the staff, nurses, and doctors that I talked to were very warm and accepting. I feel that they answered my questions fully and without any hesitation. Going to a family-planning clinic always raises anxiety, but they work very hard to make everyone feel relaxed and welcome. The medical care is excellent and thorough. It was a little crowded for my taste, but the atmosphere remained calm and it didn't bother me too much.
Tips
If you are going to a sliding-fee clinic, make sure you bring any recent pay stubs that you may have - sometimes they require proof of your income in order to pay a lower cost. Also, it's important that you know you will be comfortable with the doctor or nurse who sees you.
