Description of service
New septic tank installed, new pipes to crawlspace and tank. Also had to have tree removal. Backhoe and a backhoe operator as well as a tree removal company were involved. The tree removal alone was $817.00. The new 3 inch pipes to the house were $193.00. Bought a 1000 gallon plastic septic tank for $1,179 which was of high quality. The labor for the tree removal and tank replacement cost $995.00.
Review of Service
The service I recieved from my local area was excellent. The company was responsive to all my needs and they went out of their way to be extra careful around my house and in particular my garden area. There were two workers who communicated with me well during the entire process by explaining each step and why they needed to do it. The also gave me options on services that would either increase or decrease my total cost and they explained these well. The cost of replacing the system was a surprise to me as I thought it was going to be more expensive than it was considering what needed to be done. This business was in the middle range of the bids I got on the replacement of my system.
Tips
If you need a septic tank replacement, shop around for bids and costs of materials. Later I found out I could have saved a little money by purchasing a septic tank from a different company as well as saving a few bucks by purchasing my own pipe at a local retailer. I also could have saved money by removing the 2 very large trees on my own.
Advice for anyone else living in a tree laden area, remove any large trees near your septic tank !! The roots from these trees had cracked the pipe leading to the tank as well as cracking the upper right corner of the tank itself. The cacked pipe ended up blocking the smooth flow of the waste which backed up the whole system. I wish I would have known roots could do this and I would have removed the trees years ago.
