the Price of Oil Pastel Painting Classes

Although using oil pastels looks like drawing, it is considered painting by artists, partly because you blend the colors together like painting, and partly... well, I don't know. But they refer to the works as paintings and the artists as painters!

Anyway, I took an oil pastel workshop at a local art college. It was a 6 hour workshop taught be a reknowned oil pastel painter. There were about 15 of us. She had asked us to bring materials but she had a huge box of materials for anyone who had forgotten or just didn't like what they had brought. She had paper, oil pastels, blending tools, baby oil, ink, all sorts of stuff!

The class was really fun. Imagine getting to go through a huge box of supplies and use whatever you want! She came around and gave us attention but I was too nervous and embarassed to ask for help. Turns out that I did pretty well but I sure wish there weren't all those other peoplel around to see what I was painting!

The class size was a little large - I might try to save up for individual lessons next time so that I not only get the individual attention, but also don't feel so self-conscious.
