Description of service

They offer lessons, tips, and techniques to improve the quality and art of your oil pastel paintings. I took a one-session class to create a work of art to take home with me.

Review of Service

This class was a lot of fun. I have taken a few painting classes, and one of my favorite mediums is oil pastels--they are unique in their own ways, and can create whimsical pictures, which are best represented in floral paintings and pictures. The class was three hours long and included all materials except paper towels and a smock. Otherwise, the instructor gave step-by-step instructions for creating a beautiful piece of artwork to showcase in my home or to give as a gift. It was very entertaining, and I learned a few new techniques to make my canvas look more realistic. I will certainly take this class again in the fall when it is offered again, and the resulting picture looks fantastic in my hallway.

Tips

Don't expect a masterpiece your first time--oil pastels work differently than other mediums, and it takes some practice to master good technique. Rather, just enjoy yourself and cut loose, and with time and practice, your results will get much better. Don't give up, and keep working and drawing with the pastels in order to get better.
