Description of service
My car windshield was smashed by some kids from the junior high next door to the school where I was teaching. Because I couldn't really drive home without a windshield, I had to call a mobile auto glass place. I just picked one randomly out of the phone book.
The front windshield was fully replaced.
My insurance paid for everything over $100.
Review of Service
The windshield guy was there within half an hour and went straight to work. He did his work very efficiently, especially considering that there were about 15 kids watching by this point, absolutely enthralled by the guy putting in a new windshield.
He was quick, thorough, and I still have the windshield on my car 18 months later, so it's worked out great for me. He also cleaned up all the broken glass really well - I never found a single shard of glass in my car, which I was worried about.
I'm not sure if I should have just paid for it myself because I have a feeling it is one of the many factors that made my car insurance go up astronomically.
Tips
Check your insurance and see if they cover these kinds of things. You also might want to check and see if these are the kinds of things that cause insurance rates to rise because if so, it might just be better to pay out of pocket. It's not THAT expensive.
Make sure the glass repair person or people gets rid of the broken glass in your car. They are professionals and know how to handle it without getting hurt.
