Description of service
I had to replace the front windshield of my 1996 Chevrolet Lumina Mini Van in order to pass the yearly state inspection. There was a big crack going across the front and inspectors failed inspection due to this. I took it to a local window replacement shop who quoted me $285 for parts and labor. After taxes the total was just over $300. I dropped my van off in the morning and picked it up that afternoon.
Review of Service
The windshield was fine, but the installation was very bad. I took my van home and let it sit for 24 hours, just as the shop directed me to. About a week later it started to rain and I noticed the the seal around the windshield was not secure and water was getting into the van. I took it back to the shop and they looked at it and told me there was nothing wrong with it. Needless to say, I left very upset. I called their corporate office and complained, who in returned refunded my money and told me to get a different company to reseat the window.
Tips
Ask around to friends and family and see if they will recommend a good shop to replace the windshield. I went with a company I did not know and paid the price for doing so.
