Description of service
The windshield was cracked, so I had to have it completely replaced. The guy came to my house, put in the new windshield, redid the weatherstripping, reattached the rearview mirror (it attaches directly to the glass), and hauled away the old windshield. He also vacuumed out the inside of the car when he was done.
By request, he also reattached some molding that had come loose -- no extra charge!
Review of Service
He was running a little late, but otherwise everything was fantastic. He clearly knew his business -- he laid a towel on the roof of the car before laying his tools on it (to save the paint), he moved quickly and efficiently. All in all it took under an hour.
After a couple of days, I realized that something he had done caused rainwater to leak into the passenger side foot space. I called him and he came back out and replaced the incorrect part that had allowed the water in.
Tips
1) Either hope for a sunny day, or find a covered parking area to have the work done.
2) Apparently there are two ways to install a new windshield, either add more glue to the existing seal, or replace the seal entirely. According to this guy, the latter is better.
3) Oftentimes small chips can be filled before they become cracks, which means you don't have to replace the whole windshield. Be proactive!
