My three year old son needed his first dental exam so we took him in to see our family dentist. The dentist found one cavity that needed a filling. We have dental insurance that covered the filling so all we had to pay out of pocket was an eighteen dollar co-payment.
Review of Service
The quality of service we received was wonderful. We have a good family denist that is very experienced working with children. The dentist helped calm my little boy and was very gentle. My son did not feel any pain and only cried for a few minutes. I think because we have dental insurance, it was a great deal; my son had a full exam and a filling for only eighteen dollars.
Tips
I would tell anyone who has a preschooler that needs a dental exam to do research to find a good, kid friendly dentist. Ask your family, friends and other moms too, they can be an invaluable resource. In addition, you should prepare your child for their first dental exam by taking them with you when you get your own teeth cleaned. This way they can see the dentist at work and see that it does not hurt. They can even ride up and down in the dentists fun chair!
