Description of service
One way rental of a 14' truck, including 200 free miles and full coverage insurance.
Review of service
I wasn't overwhelmed by the quality of this service. I used a company which I had utilized for a previous move very happily, and the company sent me to a major hub in the San Francisco area, where the service was atrocious because so many customers and trucks were being handled.
I ended up waiting in the parking lot for almost an hour totally unattended before a truck was finally brought out for me, and it hadn't been cleaned properly after use. Fortunately, the truck was in good shape other than that, and it worked fine for my move.
On the drop off end of things, service was great because it was a small, local business which handles truck rental on the side. He even let me get by with a gas tank which was a little short, and I really appreciated that.
Tips
When you rent trucks for moving, shop around with multiple providers, and offer a flexible moving date if you can. Some places offer a discount for renting a truck on a weird day, or if you're willing to take a slightly bigger or smaller truck.
Make sure to pack moving trucks well, and take it easy while driving because they do not handle like a regular truck or car. They have a much longer stopping distance and huge blind spots, as I learned on the freeway in San Francisco. (Which brings me to another tip; move at off-peak hours!)
Always opt for insurance. Always. It usually costs around $40, and it's so worth it if anything happens to the moving truck. $40 is way better than $30-40,000 for a replacement truck!
