Description of service
This is one way to see the city of brotherly love either on a quick 1 1/2 hour fully-narrated round-trip tour or taking your time, hopping on and off the trolley the entire the day, from 9:30 am - 5:00 pm. The tour covers 18 places of interests, like the Liberty Bell, US Mint, Rodin Museum, Betsy Ross House, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the seaport and antique row. The tour company also provides complimentary shuttle services to limited areas / hotels within the city center. The fee does not include the gratuity you may or may not want to give to the driver and the guide.
Review of Service
The trolley tour is great for a newcomer, but I’ve actually taken it twice during my last two visits. I liked the set-up because the trolley allows you to appreciate the scenery more than if you are stuck inside a big bus. I like the freedom of being able to get off the bus to take pictures, visit the museum or just browse the antique shops, then just waiting for the next trolley to come and take you to the next adventure! The narration was a bit to ‘historical’ for my tastes, but I am sure the parents would love for their children to pick up a thing or two for their class. It is a lovely city, and the architecture is awe-inspiring, the graffiti very artistic. The service was courteous, the driver was careful and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and humorous. The trivia shared during the ride was fun and insightful. All in all, I think the fee was worth the experience.
Tips
Check the different companies offering the tour. They might have similar rates but concentrate on attractions you wish to see, they might not have the same places. Also, if you buy online, in advance, the tour company usually gives a discount of $5.00.
