Description of service
The service provided was a repair of a stereo receiver that was the center of our home theater audio system. The service included replacing the digital vacuum tube display on the front of the receiver, resoldering a pair of speaker connections that had come loose from the master sound board inside of the receiver, and retuning the digital receiver for FM stations. The repair also included a general once over of the remaining components for integrity.
Review of Service
The service was well executed, as the shop that repaired the receiver was a specialist in higher end stereo receivers, especially those that have a number of high sensitivity components. The courtesy extended in taking the repair on short notice (as I needed the equipment to be working for entertaining purposes) was a plus, and the owners actually cut us a break on the labor costs because of the nature of the job. The parts that were used as replacement were new, not remanufactured or refurbished, and the repair was turned around within an afternoon. Overall, it was an exceptional repair experience.
Tips
If you have a home stereo system receiver that needs repair, try to find a certified shop that deals with your brand, especially if your system is on the higher end equipment and cost wise. Try to find shops that deal in new replacement parts and expert labor in installing those parts, especially paying attention to whether or not the technicians that work on the repairs are certified. Most importantly, ensure that the shop can diagnose the problem clearly before making repairs, so this way you are more aware of what the problem is before you fork over your hard earned money.
