Description of service
I had a pair of very special occasion snakeskin pumps that I hardly ever wear, but will never get rid of because of their emotional value to me (they were given to me by my husband when I went back to school and got my degree). Although I didn't wear them often, I also didn't take the best care of them and they ended up getting squashed under a pile of stuff in my closet. A relative recently had his dress shoes done by a cobbler with good results, so I took my shoes to the same guy, making a special hour and a half trip to do so. He had to replace both heels and repair both uppers from where the snakeskin was damaged from being casually tossed into the closet.
Review of Service
When I got my shoes back they looked brand new. I hadn't realized how bad they had gotten until they were redone. The price was high, but as this is one of those items with high sentimental value, it was well worth it!
Tips
Don't go the cheapest route. Sometimes you can get a good deal for a cheap price, and sometimes you get what you pay for. If you need something done absolutely right, suck it up, get lots of references, and pay the price without shopping around.
