Description of service
My son went to weekly speech classes for several months. They were held at his school during his recess period. The cost was $25.00 per week.
Review of Service
My son developed a bit of a stutter. His teacher brought to our attention that the school has a speech therapist come onsite once a week that could work for him for $25 a week. We signed him up immediately but because the therapist was only there once a week her days were full. We had to wait about 3 weeks before a spot opened up.
Once his classes started there was a definite improvement. We met with the therapist after 3 months and she told us that she felt his problem had a lot to do with confidence and that the speech therapy had really helped to boost his confidence. He only went until the end of the school year. But the time the new school year began we felt his speech was good enough that someone else should get the spot.
Tips
If your child has a speech impediment, you should start by contacting their school. It's very likely that even if they don't have an onsite speech therapist they can at least recommend someone to you.
