Description of service
When my four year old daughter was having difficulty speaking, my pediatrician suggested that I hire a speech therapist. The speech therapist I found cost me $150 dollars a week for three one hour sessions. My daughter followed this schedule for three months for a total price of $1800. I never paid the therapist a gratuity. I did not have to purchase any materials for my daughter to use with the therapist.
Review of Service
I can not put into words how happy I was with the service that I received. I needed my daughter's speech to improve especially since she was going to be starting kindergarten soon and seemed to be behind her peers when it came to language development. The cost does seem relatively high, I know. But, it has been worth every penny. The improvement in her speech is so amazing.
Tips
The number one tip I would give anyone looking to hire a speech therapist is to find someone that is highly educated. Openly ask about their credentials and their success rate. Also, because my child was so young, I sat in on the first session to observe how the speech therapist and my daughter interacted. Remember, your child will get little out of the sessions if he or she does not grow to be comfortable with the therapist.
