Description of service
I recently had to take my 4 year old son in to speech therapy because he was having problems forming letters and being able to make certain sounds for the letters. We would have a 30 minute session with a licensed speech therapist and it would cost us $45.00 per session. Insurance did not cover this and because he was in preschool but not in actual school yet, we could not get this through the school for free. He met with her once a week and they would work on the letters p, s, and t. They would read books with several words starting with those letters, say random words with those letters, and than just practice saying those letters as well.
Review of Service
I thought that the speech therapist did very well with my son (she specialized in little kids) and he looked forward to going to see her each week. After the first couple of visits I noticed that he started saying those letters correctly with out having to think about it or stop and correct himself as much. She gave him stories to read at home and exercises (or as he calls it his homework) to do, which gave him a chance to work on it with me as well.
Tips
When it comes to having to find a service to help with a child in something that will affect them for the rest of their life, you might have to be willing to spend a little more to get the job done correctly.
