Description of service
My sons attend school where there is a large amount of immigrants. They have heard and even learned some Spanish phrases, but not enough to really communicate well. For $250 per child, I have enrolled them in a once weekly class in a nearby town that is taught by a native Spanish speaker. Included is a small workbook. We were encouraged to buy a Spanish-American type dictionary, although that is not required. The classes will continue until the end of the summer.
Review of Service
Even though these classes are aimed at children, I really like the fact that the instructor sends home materials for the parents, too. In going over the words with my children, my husband and I have both picked up on some of the vocabulary and we're quickly corrected by our children when we mispronounce them. In essence, the money we paid is not only teaching our children, but also providing indirect lessons for my spouse and myself.
Tips
If you can't find a foreign language school or classes, ask around if perhaps there's a native speaker of a foreign language that will give lessons. If you're looking for classes for your children, be sure to check that the lessons you have them signed up for are age appropriate. Many classes and lessons are aimed at adults.
