Description of service
My daughter has ADHD and she sees a therapist at least one time a month. At the meeting the therapist speaks with my daughter for 15 minutes and then spends 15 minutes with us( her parents) She has her medication reordered. Every month I have to physically take her prescription to the pharmacy to have it filled.
The Therapist is the only person my daughter sees for the cost of $115.00 for a half hour session.
Review of Service
The therapist is very concerned with how my daughter interacts with other children because she is somewhat a loner. The therapist (who is a MD.) has come up with suggestions for behavior modification as well as ways to get my daughter more involved in life. We are also considering having my daughter speak to another counselor that is not an MD. so my daughter has someone she can confide in for herself.
Tips
I think the hardest part is finding the right counselor. Finding someone that the child feels comfortable talking to and that can relate to the problems facing your child. The child needs to be able to confide in the counselor so they need to have complete trust in the privacy they require. The connection between child and counselor I feel is the most vital part of the therapy.
