Description of service
Had three fillings done on two teeth (one on one and two on another) after x-rays determined that these "watch spots" had now officially become cavities. I was numbed via two injections and then my dentist drilled out all of the cavity portion of the teeth and got down to good tooth. She then took white filling material (not metal) and filled in the holes she created. To cure the filling material, she shone a blue light on the fillings for several seconds. After that, she took my bite, adjusted it via some minor filing, and smoothed the finished product. I was then allowed to rinse and was sent on my way.
Review of Service
I like the fact that my dentist doesn't automatically fill everything she finds. She is really into preventative treatment and will try other things, like fluoride treatments, etc., before going filling nuts. She is very gentle and quick/efficient. She does a really good job too, as I can't even tell where the fillings are in my mouth with my tongue! The only complaint I have is that she likes to tilt you back in the chair so far its like you are standing on your head, so you come away pretty lightheaded.
Tips
Be sure to know why you are getting a filling and if it is truly necessary. Is there anything you could do besides a filling (fluoride treatments, etc.)? Do not be afraid to ask questions. Also, know that for each surface of the tooth, and teeth can have many surfaces, you will be charged for one filling. This is important when figuring out insurance issues and co-payments for your budget.
