Description of service
I had my two lower wisdom teeth removed on a non-emergency basis because the dentist told me that they were starting to shift and push against my other teeth. The cost was $650, which was $300 per tooth and $50 for the pain medication that I used for a few days after the procedure. Part of the cost was covered by insurance but not the entire bill.
Review of Service
I have been going to my dentist for several years so I was comfortable with him and I trusted his recommendation to remove the two teeth. He showed me my xrays and explained exactly why they needed to come out and what was involved in the extraction. He made me feel comfortable with his knowledge and abilities and it took about two full hours for the entire procedure to be completed. The price of all oral surgery is high, but the cost was fair because I compared it to a few other dentist prices and they were all pretty similar to this one.
Tips
My tip would be to have the wisdom teeth removed when you are younger because it is so much easier and also cheaper. Having them removed as an adult is somewhat painful and you have to expect to be laid up in your house for about three days afterward to recover so you probably have to miss at least one day of work. Make sure you have your spouse or friend or someone there with you when you come home because the pain medicine is very powerful and will knock you out.
