Description of service

One of the city departments runs a youth basketball league every fall. I signed my nephew up to play. It includes the uniform, which has to be turned in at the end of the season. There are about 3 games every week and two practices. $55 covers a trophy at the end of the year and a pizza party for all of the players at the close of the season. The coaches volunteer to coach and it is up to the parents to take kids to and from practices and games.

Review of Service

It is a really great program. My nephew really enjoyed playing. The kids are all about the same age and go to school with each other so that they already know each other. The coaches and referees are all very fair. Everyone gets a chance to play and learn more about the game. The only thing that I did not like was having to turn the uniform back in. I thought that he should have gotten to keep it as a reminder of his first year on the team. They also do a team picture but you have to buy it separate.

Tips

Check around to see if there are any sports leagues that are privately run by your church or the parks department. The cost is usually low and the kids have a great time. If you are signing up more than one child though, you may want to try and have them put on the same team. It is a time commitment between practice and games so having to be there for more than one team could become time consuming.
