Description of service
This was a youth basketball league that was organized by a neighboring communities organization. Fee included a uniform, and a certificate of participation. The time commitment was two one hour practice sessions during the week, plus one game either on a Friday night or Saturday. This is enough, in my opinion, to not be overwhelming, but at the same time ensure that the children learn and have fun. There were about 10 weeks worth of practices and 9 weeks worth of games, not including the championships.
Review of Service
My son really enjoyed this activity. The coaching staff did a good job teaching him the fundamentals of the game of basketball, as well as helped further refine the good sportsmanship qualities that my wife and I had already worked hard to start to instill. It was a great experience, and he made a lot of new friends from people who do not go to his elementary school.
Tips
Before signing your child up for any sports league, make sure that they at least have a passing familiarity of the sport in question. This was the youngest age group, and there were some kids who coming in did not even know basic concepts like dribbling, and before the coach put a stop to it, a few of the other kids made fun of them for it.
