Description of service

I had no idea how expensive a home appraisal could be until I wanted to have one done to see how much equity was available in my home so I could add on some landscaping and a swimming pool in my backyard. The man came and was at my house for about a total of 3 hours, which was a bit longer than I expected, but he said it could take anywhere from one to four hours, so I would assume that might be fairly typical. My home is about 25 years old so not everything is brand new which ultimately hurt the value of my home a little but I have upgraded a lot in the home to make it look modern.

Review of Service

Ultimately my house wasn't quite worth what I thought it would, but it was worth enough to at least put in the swimming pool for my kids. Unfortunately he did show me some problems including something that could turn into a mold and asbestos problem. Currently it's safe, but if I ever want to sell my house I'll have to fix the problems and have the house reevaluated.

Tips

I made a little money from when I bought the house a couple years ago so I'm happy that I had them appraise my house. Beware though you could find out something bad such as I did with the mold and asbestos.
