Description of service
When we went to buy the house we currently live in, we hired a company to appraise the house we wanted to buy. The man came to the house while we were there and pointed out things that were wrong with the house and things that made the house better. The overall cost for him to come to the home and to give us a certified appraisal was $150, which we were told by our real estate agent was a flat fee. The whole process took about two hours.
Review of Service
The service was great because the home owner was trying to sell the house for more than what is was worth. Of coarse, I would have done the same thing, but spending $150 on an appraiser actually saved us thousands of dollars on the cost of the home. The man that did the appraisal was very knowledgeable and taught my wife and I a lot about the quality of a home. Overall I am very happy we used this service.

Our real estate agent referred us to this company, so you can ask local realtors to give you a reference on a good house appraisal company. You can also look for these types of people / companies online or in your local phone book.
