Description of service
We had our house appraised when we put it on the market. The appraiser came out and went over the house for almost 2 hours. We paid extra to get a personalized report stating simple things we could do to increase the value of our house on the market.
Review of Service
Very, very good service. They appraised our house a little lower than we were hoping but with the package they gave us giving us advice on things to do to raise the price we were able to get it above what we thought we'd get. It was all easy things like replacing some older outlets and doing some wiring. It did cost us money but we ended up getting about triple our money back in increased value when the house sold.
Tips
I would make sure you ask around and get some advice from other people who you trust. I've heard really bad stories about appraisers wanting 'tips' to get a higher apprasial. Always check the better business bureau. Be willing to pay a little more for great service as the return (assuming you're getting it appraised to sell it) will be well worth it, if our experience is indicative of normal experiences.
