Description of service
I had my hair dreadlocked at a hair salon. The total cost included the entire dreadlocking process, which took a few hours, plus an aftercare kit they gave me. The procedure involved a "backcombing" process in which the stylists sectioned off individual strands of hair, then combed hair back toward the base of the scalp and tangled it into a thick dread. It took a while but I'm very happy with the results.
Review of Service
The people at the place I went to were very friendly and courteous. They took their time on each individual strand and didn't rush it. The dreadlocks looked great and I couldn't wait to show my friends. They were tight and full at the base of each strand and stayed together very nicely, and were all thick and nice.
Tips
Not many hair salons offer this service, and not every salon does it well and/or cheaply. Don't get so-called "perm" dreadlocks -- these are instant but they don't turn out well and ruin your hair. Find a place that has experience (i.e. has done it more than a couple of times) and will give you good tips on caring for dreadlocks afterwards. Don't settle for someone cheap that's going to mess up your hair.
