the Cost of Chamber of Commerce Membership

I joined the local Chamber of Commerce two years ago. As a member, the chamber keeps me on the books for tourists to rent cabins and general grocery items in the area. It provides a pamphlet with all the different lodgings available along with rates and what amenities are available. A email and phone number are given to call. We are also linkedd to their website. Services are to include being informed of events within the area and help the businesses attract tourist.

Being a member for the last 2 years really has done very little for my business. The only part is the pamphlet providing information on our cabins and store. Also their Internet link has been somewhat helpful. unfortunately, they are not good at letting the business outside of town know what different events are coming up. As for information to pass on to visitors, they have a bad habit of not sharing the packets. I have had to go to the county tourists office to get maps, visitors info etc. When I expressed my concerns they weren't overly interested so I was forced to contact different agencies myself. Not sure I will rejoin next year. I have never received a certificate showing I am a member of the chamber of commerce.

When joining the chamber of commerce make sure you get all your information in writing as to what to expect from being a member.
