the Cost of Chamber of Commerce Membership

We paid this amount for our local chamber of commerce. This includes our membership for the year. This entitled us to patronage at the monthly luncheon, access to the monthly newsletter, advertising opportunities, sponsorship at the annual golf outing, recognition at high school sporting events, and partnerships for ribbon cutting ceremonies and other high profile events.

We are located in a fairly small town, so the chamber is one of the best ways that we can find other businesses to form a co-op with. It is a great way to find out about new businesses coming into the area, as well as a good avenue to gain information about other businesses in the area. A small town chamber is also very reliable for referrals -- whether you are looking for customers or whether you are looking for service providers.

Some business owners might shy away from small town chambers and decide to spend their money on the nearest big city chamber. But one must consider that, just because the "numbers" are larger in the big chambers, it might not mean that they will be getting the best value for their money. As the stereotype goes, big is not always better. Small town charm usually seeps into small town chambers and there can be a lot of potential for new business and repeat business in smaller chambers. Because we are a small business and have a certain set of standards and ethics, we have found many similarly grounded peers in the chamber.
