Description of service
This is the charter year for the chamber of commerce in this smaller suburb of Indianapolis. This is the cost for our membership for the next twelve months. It includes all of our chamber benefits, including monthly membership lunches, after hours gatherings, inclusion in the directory, golf outing.
Review of Service
Our business is actually locate about 30 miles north of this suburb of Indianapolis, and some are surprised about the distance we are willing to drive to this chamber's events, especially with elevated fuel prices. However, the small town aspect of this chamber coincides with our small business philosophy, and its dues are much less expensive than the big city option. We have more face to face opportunities with other small businesses that have a mentality similar to ours.
Tips
When joining your chamber, it is a great resource to call other members who have been involved for awhile and ask their opinion of the organization. You can also often attend a monthly luncheon as someone's guest, so this is another good way to find out what the chamber will be like before you actually join. Chambers are great for business opportunities, but make sure you are willing to give something in return. Like many not-for-profit organizations, chambers of commerce are there for more than just wooing customers; they can be great for getting involved in your community. Be ready (and willing) to help and volunteer!
