Description of service
I visited this well-regarded salon to receive a hair coloring and highlights from the salon's owner.
Review of Service
I had mixed feelings about the service I received. The owner/hairdresser pushed to me to consider a color I was not sure I was comfortable with. I ended up taking his suggestion, but when it was finished, the result looked nice, but was not quite what I had expected. I asked the stylist if he could change it slightly, but he was resistant and tried to convince me that he knew better than I did what was right for me. The atmosphere in the salon was pleasant enough. The price is typical for the D.C. area, but to me is outrageously expensive.
Tips
Asking someone whose haircut or haircolor you admire for the name of their stylist is usually a good way to start finding a stylist, although some stylists work better with some people or length of hair than others. If they are willing, ask if you can come in and discuss what they would suggest for your hair before you make the appointment. That way you can find out how you feel about the stylist's attitude and recommendations before paying a fortune. A second alternative is to see the stylist just for a shampoo and styling, and discuss the coloring for a later appointment.
