Description of service
Hair cut (new style) with all over color and a few highlights near the front of the face. All together it was $75, which I thought was pretty reasonable. I left a $10 tip on top of that.
Review of Service
Hair was done at a salon in a popular department store. Even though $75 is about average for our area, I suppose you get what you pay for. The environment was extremely loud and too much activity going on. Phone kept ringing, so the stylist was not 100% focused on me. When she wasn't on the phone, she was busy talking to other stylists instead of more one on one interaction with clients. Hair came out good though. The wait in the begining was LONG was usual. It's one of those deals where you put your name in and then shop around for an hour or so. That's probably the biggest downfalls of getting your hair done in a department store salon because they don't take appointments.
Tips
If you don't mind the wait in the begining and if you don't mind trying out new people I guess a department store hair salon would be ok. I went when the highlights were on sale. $9.99 for 10 foils, which I think is a pretty good deal. If you are the type of person who likes to be pampered while getting your hair done, then I don't reccommend a set-up like this, but you will be paying twice as much.
Just ask if they take appointments; otherwise you'll be waiting for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
