Description of service
I recently went to a salon and spa to get my hair cut and highlighted. I have fairly long hair so that tends to make getting my hair done more expensive. The haircut was $35. The highlight was $60. I always like to give at least a 15% tip to my stylist so I have her about a $15 tip. If I really like the final product I will give a 20% tip. I arrived at the salon and she mixed up the color and began to foil my hair. She decided to only do a partial highlight although I wanted a full. I was then under the dryer for quite a while. She then rinsed and shampooed and said that for some reason my hair had turned orange, yikes! She used toner to neutralize the color. Next she just cut off the dead ends and moved on to blow dry and style my hair. The entire process took about 3 hours.
Review of Service
I wasn't happy with the way my hair turned out and will probably try to find someone else next time which is a bummer because this place is only a few blocks from my house. She was okay I just didn't feel that I was ultimately listened to and my hair didn't turn out like I had hoped. I asked for it to be lightened up a bit for spring I left there with my hair darker than it had ever been. Everyone told me I should have gone back but I have never felt comfortable enough to do that so in a month or so I will try to find a different stylist.
Tips
Ask friends for advice and if you like their hair use that advice. I was looking for convenience. Although my hair didn't look terrible it certainly was one of my least favorites and for as much money as you spend on the process you ultimately want to be happy when you leave. My next tip would be to go back and get your hair fixed if you are not happy. I didn't do that and wish that I would have!
