Description of service
This was a series of six 90 minute lessons who's goal was to provide students with a good grasp of basic kitchen fundamentals, as well as providing them with a number of basic stock recipes as well as ways that they could experiment in order to dress their recipe up a bit. Soups, poultry, beef, and deserts were all covered by the class, as well as tips on how to properly plate and present the food in order to make it look as good as it tastes.
Review of Service
Classes were taught in the home economics room of the local high school. One down side is I felt as if the class size was too big, as we often had to partner up due to a lack of ovens. While that was fine for the married couples taking the course, if your spouse or significant other was not there, I felt as if there was not as much opportunity to learn.
Tips
Be sure to check out the menu for what is being prepared and alert the instructor of any allergies. The fourth class was supposed to be about cooking fish, but had to be changed due to someone's food allergy. Also, try to take the class with someone so you are not paired up with someone you do not know if this is uncomfortable for you.
