Description of service
Being in need of some dental care, I asked around among friends about dentists, since the one I had been using I guess had retired. I could no longer find him in the phone book. Someone recommended the dental college to me. He said the prices were great and it was very convenient to where I live. I had several things done, but I will address just one, a filling. The filling I had done was a standard, non-cosmetic (silver, rather than the more expensive white) since it was going in the back on the top.
Review of Service
There is not enough room here for me to list all the complaints I have, so I'll hit the high points. First, it took a year to get in. And then I didn't get in through normal means. I knew somebody who knew somebody. Fortunately, I didn't have anything that hurt. Second, it became clear when I finally did get to see an intern, that they have their own agendas. They must fulfill a certain number of requirements for individual things. This was OK with me since I didn't doubt that the things that were proposed were beneficial to me, but there was a reluctance on the part of the intern to address the problem that originally brought me there. As for the filling that I mentioned, it was $12.00 more than it would have been at a full-fledged dentist. That was the las time I went in.
Tips
If you have a similar facility in your city it will probably be difficult to get a price estimate out of them before you go in. But try to get a general price on something like a filling, or root canal. Unless the savings are substantial, the inconvenience encountered is not worth it.
