Description of service
My youngest son was interested in learning to play the drums. We had spoken to the band director at the local Jr High School and he recommended a few instructors for the beginner on the drums. We met with them and had them meet our son as well. After meeting with the two instructors, he and we selected one of them. The lessons were to be held at the instructor's home once a week, for 30 minutes. Prior to the first lesson we had to purchase drum sticks, a book and a sound pad. These items cost $60.
Review of Service
My son and I both felt that the instructions were very good and well worth the costs. The lessons were personal and he learned to play the drums. We never had to wait for the lessons and often they lasted up to 40 minutes. It was a goal of the teacher to have my son appreciate music and to learn how to properly play the drums. Not once did he attempt to sell us anything. I did not remain in the room while he taught my son but I saw the results every week. There was nothing negative about the experience and it was a fair value for all the personal instructions he received.
Tips
When a child expresses interest in a musical instrument, encourage him to learn more about it. Lessons cost money as does the instrument itself. If you are going to have lessons, check with a school or other parents for references. Meet with the instructor prior to any agreement. Have your son or daughter also meet him or her.
Encouragement is the most important thing in this situation
