the Price of Drum Lessons

The service was amazing and I am sure that I received more bang for the buck. The guy was very helpful. He was on time and actually waiting when I arrived. He had the drums set up when I walked in and we began immediately. At first I was a little uncoordinated, but I began to get the knack of a few simple beats he showed me. He was a chatty fellow so there were no awkward silences; just lots of awkward drumming. However he was very advanced and I don't think he knew how to teach a beginner. He would try to explain the drums to me with music theory and it would go over my head.

I had a good time and found drumming very enjoyable. I do not think that it is possible for someone to learn an immense amount of information this way though. like most music training services the teacher found it hard to bridge the gap between advanced and beginner. He was cool though at some points it seemed like he was trying to show off his ability and I found it some what intimidating. All in all it was a good time.

My advice to anyone interested in playing the drums should first purchase a cheap drum set. This way than can research and practice at home. The bad thing about an instructor is he is only there for the hour you pay him to be. After a few months of practice I would then look for an instructor and try to find someone who can teach on a beginner level.
