the Price of Storage Space

The price is for one month's rental of a 5'x5' air conditioned space inside a warehouse. Uncooled 5'x5' spaces were $32/month and space was available from 3'x4' to enough space to park an RV, which ran $162/month without A/C.

The first month's rent on the space was free for new customers, as was use of a moving truck from a local rental company.

It's a locked storage closet (we're the only ones with a key, the storage place would have to cut the lock off to get access) that holds a bunch of boxes of stuff at about 70 degrees F. We got the unit to put out of season stuff into so it wouldn't clutter up our garage. Winter clothes and skis and whatnot are in there right now. So far so good. We haven't had the urge to check on it so far, except to move stuff in and out, which happens about once a month.

Controlled access to the units is the biggest thing. Check to make sure the doors are secure, that only you have a key to the unit (though the owners will certainly have alternate ways in if you lose your key (don't lose your key) or default on payment), that they have a security patrol, and that they've taken pains to provide for the safety of the goods as well (fire suppression systems and whatnot).

Access to the unit is also very important. If you need access for a truck right to the unit, don't go looking at places where access is down a narrow hall.
