Description of service
I am the owner of a 77 pound female Golden Retriever. About every 3 months, she is in need of a full groom. The full groom includes hair removal comb, bathing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, anal gland cleaning and full body shave or cut. I usually have my dog trimmed pretty close as she sheds like crazy. The whole process takes about one hour. The charge is $35 for the full groom. A basic groom is $20. The basic includes a bath and trim, as well as nail clipping. I usually tip my groomer $5 because she does such a nice job and I know my dog likes her and doesn't mind going to her shop. She also provides my dog with a seasonal bandanna and a bag of treats.
Review of Service
I used to be charged upwards of $45 for a full groom before finding a new groomer. The groomer I have now is excellent. She provides such a nice cut, keeping my dog's appearance true to her breed yet cutting her down enough to eliminate massive shedding. Also, I used to have to wait 3 or more hours to have my dog groomed, not to mention it would take weeks to get into the more expensive groomers. The groomer I use now has several family members working for her, she has evening and weekend hours and like I had mentioned previously, she only takes an hour to make my dog look beautiful.
Tips
I would suggest looking for a groomer who provides their service out of their home or their garage. If you go to a shop, you will be paying for rent and other associated costs that the groomer incurs. Also, make sure your pet is comfortable with the groomer. If the next time you visit your groomer and your pet flips out, there is usually a reason (perhaps a bad experience from the last time). A groomer who has family members helping out is also great. That usually equates to less time spent at the groomers and better availability for scheduling.
