Description of service

The services rendered for the money included trimming the hair around the dog's pads, eyes, nose, and mouth, trimming of the dog's nails, gentle combing out of the dog's coat, including removal of hair that was clumped in the coat, a full shampoo and conditioning of the dog's coat, followed by blow drying of the coat and another combing out. Groomer also included a miniature bow for the top of the dog's head.

Review of Service

The service that the groomer provided was exceptional given the price. The reason the groomer did the work in her own home was due to the high costs of renting a storefront for the business, but she was a licensed groomer that had professional level equipment to take care of the dog. She was very gentle in combing the dog, ensuring that the dog was treated as though she was the owner. The groomer was gracious enough to allow us to view the grooming of our pup, partially as a calming measure to keep the dog mellow while it was being bathed and combed and partially to show us the different ways to do some of the care (such as properly clipping the nails) own out own. She was very professional, and completed the grooming of the dog in a little over an hour.

Tips

If you're in need of a dog groomer, make sure you shop around for different places and consider people who work out of their own homes. Often, they are more careful with your dog than a shop owner will be, mainly because they know that their business is important being based in their home and often the only means that they utilize to bring in money. That being said, check to see what kind of services are provided for your money, and see what the groomer charges extra for. I believe that a general grooming should include combing, trimming of nails and some fur, and a bathing of the dog, so look that these services are provided as part of the general grooming costs. Also, if the groomer gives you any advice on maintaining the dog on your own, listen to them and take heed, as your own preventative measures can reduce the amount of time the dog will have to spend being professionally groomed.
