Description of service
My sons' bedroom was in sad shape from the day we bought the house. The previous owners had installed a horrible, gaudy wallpaper on the top half of the wall, a chair rail trim all around and the bottom half of the wall was an ugly green, like a hospital uses. The husband and wife team that we used to paint the room removed the chair rail and wallpaper, as well as painted the walls, from ceiling to floor, in a much more pleasing sand color. We had to remove all furniture, toys, etc. from the room before they began. We also supplied the paint we wanted (we consulted with them ahead of time on brand and type) and a dropcloth. They provided the brushes, tape, and expertise.
Review of Service
The service was excellent for a couple just starting out in painting. Although we cleaned the room out before they got there for a cheaper price, the quoted price for us not doing so wasn't but about $50 more. If it'd been a larger room or had heavier furniture, I would've gladly forked over the extra money! They were very careful and made sure that there were no noticeable mistakes. They were done by the time the kids got home from school, although the walls were not dry, of course.
Tips
Get references from family and friends, but be willing to try someone just starting out. My sister-in-law had heard of this family, but had never personally tried them. A friend of mine used someone with excellent references, was charged twice as much as I had been, and had sloppy repair work and runs showing after they left. Their response had been, "we can't work miracles".
