Description of service
Group therapy for sufferers of PTSD for any and all reasons, as well as referrals and treatment of specific psychiatric problems.
Review of Service
I love my group meetings. They meet once a week, but I only go about once a month since it is quite expensive to attend regularly. It is a meeting of my peers, where I can talk and confront issues with other people who can empathize with my problem. The group is led by a therapist who encourages interactions and exercises with my peers, and it is so helpful. I highly recommend group therapy to anybody who needs to feel a little more normal in this crazy world of ours, especially if the group leader is an experienced and compassionate therapist.
Tips
There are usually several groups that meet a week, depending on what kind of group therapy you are looking for. If you are not comfortable with one group, continue attending other group meetings to see if there is one particular group you mesh well with. Sometimes it is the dynamics of just one person who will throw off your feelings for the group, either in favor or against the group, so also be sure to take that into consideration when choosing the right group for you. Group therapy isn't for everyone, so if you are uncomfortable sharing with others, individual therapy may be the way to go for you.
