We pay a local handi-man $25 at the beginning of each summer to come over and check out our air conditioner.
Review of Service
A local retired man near us does odd jobs for us around the house all year. One of those is to maintain our air conditioner. He comes over once a year at the beginning of the year. He makes sure everything is all cleaned out and in good working order. Usually he changes some filters or one tube or another on the filtration device part. I'm not very familiar with these types of things.
After he takes a look at the air conditioner he gives me a list of what he needs. I take the list to the local hardware store to pick up what he needs. He then comes back and makes the necessary repairs or maintenance. It's really a great deal for us and I think it gives him something to do while making a little money on the side.
We do worry sometimes that because he's elderly he might not be quite up to speed as far as his eye site and such.
Tips
Try to find someone near you who can do these types of things for you. Even a younger person - it might give them some experience and save you some money too.
