My sister just got a new puppy and she was told that she should get health insurance for her new dog. Most members of my family do have health insurance for all of our pets, so we would definitely recommend it. Its not as expensive as you might think considering how many times you will have to take your dog or even cat to vet. The insurance covers everything up to 80% It covers all the shots and vaccines that they need and also it covers any unexpected accident your pet might have. Accidents and operations on animals can be almost as expensive as doctor bills for people. My sister pays $600 per year which is only fifty dollars per month. Some of the shots and vaccines that the animals need are much more expensive that that. So I would think that the added peace of mind is well worth the six hundred dollars a year.

I think pet insurance is a great idea if you can afford it. Either way you have to take your pet to the vet and pay for that, so pet insurance may be something you should look into.

Just like with any other insurance company, you should call around and get quotes, and see what the best prices are for the exact coverage you want and need.
