It depends on rather or not you would want to pay out of pocket for these expenses or not. It would probably be the same cost for the visits if you just paid out of pocket, but if your pet has an unexpected emergency, that is when the pet insurance comes in handy and is very much needed. Vet bills can be very expensive depending on what your pets problem is.

I am glad we purchased health insurance for our pet. I am glad to know if our dog ever gets very ill we have the insurance to pay for whatever treatment she may need. I would recommend health insurance for anyone who has a dog, or even a cat. They both live a long time and both need regular vet care.
