Description of service
I attended eight hypnotherapy sessions with a hypnotherapist. I received some pre-printed materials from a relaxation book. I also received two cd's. One cd was a relaxation cd recorded by my hypnotherapist. The other was a cd geared towards patients with a specific phobia. During sessions, we first discussed any issues that came up during the week. I was then hypnotized for about 20 minutes of the session. After some initial nervousness, the hypnosis was relaxing.
Review of Service
The hypnotherapist I visited was well-qualified and professional. He was knowledgeable about the issues involved, and was able to help me gain further control over my anxiety through hypnotherapy. The hypnotherapist was understanding and supportive, and I was quickly able to build a rapport with him. He also made sure that I was comfortable with the hypnosis process. Overall, I was pleased with the service, because it taught me better relaxation techniques, and ways to deal with anxiety and discomfort.
Tips
When going to any type of therapist, make sure you do the work that they recommend. The majority of therapy is completed at home, while meeting with the therapist for guidance and to process issues and problems that come up. It is much more difficult to make progress if you don't complete your therapy "homework." Completing homework will move the therapy along more quickly, helping you feel better and keeping therapy costs to a minimum.
