Description of service
I paid $55 for the truck rental, plus about $6 in sales tax. Although I have paid extra for the rental company's insurance before, I opted to use my own insurance this time.
Review of Service
The quality of service was excellent. I rented the truck from a national chain that is famous for offering transportation from the customer's home to the rental office. This is very convenient.
Tips
Be sure you know your insurance policy with respect to covering rental vehicles before going into the rental office. At an optional $12-$22 dollars extra per day for the rental insurance, it is important to know in advance whether you would prefer to take the rental company's insurance, or their damage waiver only, or whether you prefer to make a claim against your own insurance policy in case any damages occurs. One thing I do not like about rental companies is the high pressure tactics some agents use to push customers into buying their insurance. It is worth doing some research on your own before renting for the first time. To people who have rented before this is all old hat, but I wish I had known the pros and cons of buying the rental company's insurance before dealing with them. I paid for the optional insurance which cost me about 30% more than necessary given that my insurance would have covered any damages. Overall though, it was still a great deal. Had I chosen a national chain famous for their big box trucks I would have paid a lot more because they charge many cents per mile driven. The rental car chain allows unlimited mileage.
